San Francisco trumpet player and composer, Ari Micich performs with orchestras, opera companies, ensembles and his own solo project throughout the Bay Area. He is a member of the San Francisco based brass quintet, Brass Over Bridges and the conductorless chamber orchestra One Found Sound.
Ari’s compositions explore new contexts for the trumpet, the interplay of organic sounds, melody, harmony and visual storytelling. His work with video is inspired by his background in visual arts, the interplay between musical and visual mediums and their shared language of line, rhythm, harmony and dissonance. At the core of Ari’s work is a desire to create pieces with an emotional core that capture the listener’s imagination and inspire new possibilities.
With over ten years of experience freelancing in San Francisco, Ari has performed with nearly every orchestra in the Bay Area, including the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Ballet orchestras. He has held the position of acting co-principal trumpet with the Berkeley Symphony in Berkeley California and the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic in Durban South Africa. He has performed with the New World Symphony, Spoleto Festival USA and the Civic Orchestra Of Chicago.
Ari moved to San Francisco in 2009 to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he received his Master of Music degree, studying with Mark Inouye and David Burkhart.
Indiamore by Christophe Chassol is a unique combination of travelogue, music video and narrative film. In Indiamore, people play instruments, speak, tap rhythms or sing short songs while Chassol artfully adds harmonies and drums to create a unique musical and visual experience.
